Where to find COVID-19 PCR tests for travel

As travel becomes an option again, certain entry requirements are now in place to enter countries, with many requiring a negative PCR test. It is not advised to use the NHS tests, and you will need to arrange a test through a private firm. Below are options as to where you can book a private test that can be used for travel.

London Gatwick Airport

Gatwick airport is offering an ‘ExpressTest’ facility which is a drive-through at the South Terminal Long Stay Car Park where you can take a PCR swab test. These must be booked in advance.  The Hilton London Gatwick is offering a Test & Rest Package which includes a PCR self-testing swab kit and overnight accommodation at the hotel. You can find out more here.

London Heathrow Airport

The Sofitel is also offering a ‘test and rest’ stay for travellers including a PCR, overnight stay and breakfast. Arriving at Terminal 5, guests take a self-test which is then couriered to a lab for processing overnight. Travellers taking part must also download an app for the biotech firm that is delivering the tests, Halo, in which their app will link directly to their test. You can find out more here.

Edinburgh Airport

Edinburgh Airport has introduced a drive-through screening service centre by the terminal that provides a fast and accurate PCR swab test with results the next day sent via text or email. You can find out more here.

Boots

Select Boots stores across the UK are now able to offer private COVID-19 testing specifically for those without symptoms, who may need test results to travel. Tests need to be booked in advance, with 40 stores currency offering the service including London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, and Sheffield.  Results arrive within 48 hours and negative results come with a ‘fit to fly’ certificate.

TUI

The UK’s largest tour operator is offering a discounted rate on home PCR testing kits in partnership with Randox. The kits resent out on next-day delivery, as long as ordered by 12pm Mon-Fri, and results can be expected within 24 hours of the sample arriving at the lab.

easyJet

easyJet is also offering a discounted rate on home test kits with 2 companies. You are provided with a code to enter at checkout to get it at a lower price and can choose between Randox or CityDoc to go through for tets. With Randox providing results 24 hours, and the latter within 48 hours.
